چکیده

Abstract We conducted ambient monitoring of various hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) for 2 years (2013-2015) in two adjacent Korean cities a megacity area: Seoul and Incheon. Measured HAPs included volatile organic compounds (VOCs), polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), heavy metals (HMs). The objectives this study were to evaluate the spatiotemporal variations HAPs, prioritize based on health risks, identify sources using receptor-based model, estimate source-specific risks. Overall, HAP levels Incheon higher than those Seoul. concentrations combustion-origin such as PAHs some HMs, significantly during heating period non-heating period. However, most VOCs exhibited an opposite trend. Benzo[a]pyrene showed highest cancer risk both cities, followed by formaldehyde, arsenic, benzene; trichloroethylene was only species that exceeded hazard quotient 1. Cumulative risks 2.0 × 10 -4 2.7 Major their contributions each concentration estimated positive matrix factorization modeling. Based assessments, we suggest should give high priority control traffic pollution supply cleaner fuels non-residential sectors. Reducing carbonyl industrial emissions is also necessary. Establishing new standards benzo[a]pyrene formaldehyde worth considering long-term measure. This provides scientific information occurrence, large urban areas.

Hazardous air pollutants and asthma.

Asthma has a high prevalence in the United States, and persons with asthma may be at added risk from the adverse effects of hazardous air pollutants (HAPs). Complex mixtures (fine particulate matter and tobacco smoke) have been associated with respiratory symptoms and hospital admissions for asthma. The toxic ingredients of these mixtures are HAPs, but whether ambient HAP exposures can induce a...

securitization of mortality risks in life annuities

insurers have in the past few decades faced longevity risks - the risk that annuitants survive more than expected - and therefore need a new approach to manage this new risk. in this dissertation we survey methods that hedge longevity risks. these methods use securitization to manage risk, so using modern financial and insurance pricing models, especially wang transform and actuarial concepts, ...

Assessment of air pollution in exercise centers and health risks

Background: In recent years, Tehran has faced major problems with air pollution for many reasons, and this issue has become a critical point in most of the days. However, less attention has been paid to the indoor air pollutants in exercise centers and their possible health effects. In this research, it was tried to briefly describe the characteristics and chemical composition of the aerosols p...

Hazardous Air Pollutants Special Report

While recent reports have commented on the elevated ambient levels of hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) in certain areas of Houston, relative to other cities, few studies have assessed the health effects of HAPs for Houstonians and none have evaluated the association between ambient levels of these pollutants and lymphohematopoietic cancer risk in this population. To begin to address this deficit...
